The major book publishers are notoriously difficult to get a deal with. They reject thousands of manuscripts and even inquiries every year. Often, just getting them to read your manuscript could be vexing and difficult work. Self-publishing is no walk in the park either, and you get less of the benefits of wide distribution. Small Book Publishers may be a solution for authors who want to get their work distributed. Small Book Publishers are more often willing to take chances with unknown authors. Their resources for publishing however, are usually smaller. But fret not, the internet has greatly leveled the playing field between big and small book publishers in terms of promotional power.
