You can get your free annual credit report in a variety of different ways.  One way is to contact the three reporting agencies directly and ask for your annual credit report.  By law, they have to provide you with one free annual credit report each year.  You can also contact several websites that will do all of the legwork for you and provide you with a free annual credit report from each of the three reporting agencies as well as a composite credit score.  While the agencies cannot charge you, the website usually charges a small fee for this service.  In exchange for the fee, you get the free annual credit report from the agencies a quicker and all at one time.  Many people are glad to pay a few bucks for this convenience.
